How Schools Kill Creativity

Ted Talk: Ken Robinson: How schools kill creativity

"I think there is a huge problem to define: what the Intelligence is?, we always define this in terms of notes, we are actually educated to be "clones", forgetting the most precious idea in the human kind: we are all different, and it´s useless try to establish who is outstanding and who is "normal", outstanding on what? in follow orders? because we are all different and we have different capacities, some of us are really good on sciences, others on sports, others on arts and there is no way in winch one person good on arts could overpass another good on sciences if they perform a test focus on sciences, because their minds essentially work different, I saw how something so simple as perform additions and subtractions it´s understood with different mind process from one person to another, so what is the point? the point is that we can´t be educated with the assumption that we think on the same way and we have the same skills because we don´t, and this is killing our creativity and our spirit because we never found our skills, our personality, because our educational system only admits one correct answer and one correct behavior."  -Eder Aguilar

How To Save the World?

I have always had trouble answering this question. I mean, how do you save the world? It just doesn't happen overnight. How can one person even make a significance to the world. I have always admired Gandhi and Martin Luther King's dedication and bravery for even trying to attempt such a task. In some ways you could say they succeeded. In others, you could say they started it or began the movement.

No one can tell you how or where to start. If it's hard just trying to even answer the question in general, then it's probably gonna be hard trying to start. Everyone has their moment of realization or knowing that they can accomplish it.

To those who have the passion like me to make a difference or to even try to save/change the world..I found this little motivator...

Haven't blogged for awhile so excuse the shortness..

"To This Day"

            I have not posted in a few weeks. But I have come back with this speechless Ted talk..yes a ted talk. I watched the first 3 minutes and I knew I had to post this video. It paints a reflection of what it is like to be bullied, what its like to be young, what its like to be different. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did.

Blank Message

Sometimes I don't even know what to write anymore. I guess its like a form of writers block. Either I write about the world or I write about how I view the world. It's as if my mind has gone blank. But then I started to question myself....
What do you do when you have a blank canvas? What do you do when you have a blank piece of paper? Do you write or paint without any thought. Or do you express your feelings, desires, needs, goals, dreams, things that your not, things you want to be.

And what if there was a blank message, something that could inspire or change people. What would your message be? Where would you start it? Will it guide you anywhere or anyone somewhere?

You see a blank message...can mean alot..
            so what did this one mean to you...

Dumb of Silence

The dumb of silence

It's something that can be cured, but few have cured it. It's four simple words, but means so much. It describes our society, humanity, the people. Just four words, describe the cage we put ourselves in. Each and every day, we walk with the dumb of silence. But with this, many will ignore it or forget about it in a couple of days. So few will actually take action or understand the words. We enjoy comfort and sameness. But deep down we longer for change. Will you still walk..with the dumb of silence?

 "If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter." - George Washington

Quotes..

I believe everyone has a quote that they either live by or inspire to imitate. To act on to what it says or means. Everyone has that favorite quote..something of the nature of love, happiness, or life. It can be so simple, but yet tell a life's worth of lessons and meaning. What is your favorite quote?

The Toxic Tangle of our Food

This is a shocking video from a Ted talk from 2011. It is Robyn O’Brien, who is known as the "Food 's Erin Brockovich." If you are concerned about what is on your plate, in your fridge, or on the shelves of the grocery stores, then you watch this.  This is one of the most important Tedx Talk that I have watched. This should be spread around to awaken people to the fact of this greed driven industry, the Food Industry.

 Below is the link to a article on Food Matters.com that is talking about Mrs. O'Brien.
Below that link, is her TEDx Talk

Break the Silence

In this great Ted Talk, Jackson Katz points out the main issues/roots of sexual abuse, rape, domestic abuse and the stigma of gender diversity. He shows us how these violent behaviors are tied into the definitions of manhood.

Just my thoughts...

Sometimes we just have to realize that life is way too short
To worry, to be angry, to not love
Sometimes you just have to look at your life, for a moment
and question;

Is this what I wanna leave behind?
Was this life filled with purpose?

... The privilege of a lifetime is knowing that you were who you were, and that you still are who you are

With no regrets of any mistakes....With no remorse over times we could've done better

We only have 86,400 in a day...would you try to turn your day around? or would you just throw it all away?

If

If you had a dream, would you make it happen?

If you had a goal, would you make it a reality?

If you started to believe, would you be honest? Or faithful?

If  you had a mission, would you think you were capable of completing it?

If you had....

Life...

"Your life can be spared or it can be taken. Whichever happens make sure  that you are leaving or living a life that is/ has been worth it. To take for granted a life, that's the biggest mistake. For a life is more precious, more meaningful than you can grasp. "

There is just something about my generation. We praise fighting.. enjoy bullying/downgrading each other..getting high..drinking until we cannot function properly...having unprotected sex..not being a leader, but just another follower...Need I add more?...

Spoken Word

This is another genuine spoken word that will open your eyes about a common substance. A common ∂rug..an addiction that is said not to be poisonous..Can you guess what its about?

Cage

 Feeling trapped inside. With no where else to hide. Freedom is so near. But there is always fear.  Its just something about feeling so trapped inside; by your mind..body..or soul..To fear that you cannot do anything cause something always limits you. This is the task I take everyday..A task I keep inside..To fear being right beside anyone...or anything

Could you ever guess what keeps me so inside?

You can wait..

Some of us remember when the phone hung on the kitchen wall. There was no internet. TV came free over the air waves. Yes, it can wait. Let death wait, too. Instant information is not all it's cracked up to be, and you'll crack-up too, eventually. ~Thomas~

Generation Y?

Something about frozen yogurt..

There is something about a good cup of frozen yogurt. It relieves all your stress, while giving you a cold sensation. And..it just tastes so darn good....

Protests...

I was going to post about other things, but as I was on youtube I clicked on this video. I did not expect so see what I saw in the video. I guess I was blind-sided by how much is going on without us knowing. This portion of the video, completely shocked me. It scares me to see all of this happening. Just as it shocked me, it will probably shock you as well.

TED Talks Education

         I watched this great TED talk yesterday on PBS. This really connected to me as a student in the education system. If you are a teacher, student, parent, or would like to be informed about our education system, then you should watch this. This will give you a different opinion on how we are teaching and learning. How teachers should be more engaged in my learning. And how we should be more invested into everyday learning. Below you can find the website to learn more information about each speaker. Below that is the full 55 minute talk about education that I enjoyed last night. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

TEDx

            If you haven't heard of TED by now, you are missing something in your life. TED is a conference that is seen globally which is owned by a non-profit organization. The purpose of these talks/conferences is to inform/educate/enlighten/ and to spread ideas.

I enjoy watching one of these either on a rainy day or just to relax. You can never get bored with these talks, for they're many subjects that can be explored ~ and for me today....I found this talk about the food industry.

I think you will enjoy it :-]  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TEDx Talk Anna Lappe

Cliff Vision

So for the last couple of days, I have tried to meditate. It's a hard task for me to do, but I love the idea of calming the mind (for I have a busy one). Unfortauntley, I keep hitting the same road block, over and over again. It comes as a picture/visual in my head as I try to clear it. A image like the one above~~~~
I am standing on the edge of a cliff, strapped with chains/a chord that will catch me so I wont fall completely on the ground <basically like bungee jumping>. But as I keep leaning forward, I cant jump....then... my eyes open.

~~~~~~I guess my mind is relaying the message that; In order for me to clear my mind/ think freely/ release my inner/outer self..I must let go.... let it all go..... ~~~~~~
Monsanto
On May 25th, 2013 there will be a protest march and rally at all city capitals. Will you join? Do you support the cause?
Yesterday, I watched a handicapped women rolling down the street with her dog in her lap in a wheelchair. It was raining and cold outside. But unfortunately i was like any other person, I just looked as she rolled her wheelchair into the rain. She slowly came to the stop sign and stayed there. I felt frustrated that I was like everyone else, I did nothing to ease her journey back home. I did not offer an umbrella nor did I get out the car to make sure she was alright.
I felt like I was being watched, to see if i would take the challenge. To make a difference but I had no will power to come to her rescue. Sometimes the littlest things can make a difference for everyone..
The First Post...
    This is the first page, the first sentence of an endeavor. This little paragraph is the beginning of a blog or should I say "story" that will connect one person to another. To experience one walk of life with others. I should end this with saying; this is a tale, a tale of a young person with thoughts and dreams for the world but hasn't been written and remains to be unwritten. Until now....
